| Description | This unit aims to provide students with an in-depth understanding of modern day, data communications. The concepts of classless network addressing are introduced, as are the concepts of link-state routing protocols such as OSPF and EIGRP. Students are introduced to such advanced switch based concepts as Virtual LANs and the associated issues of the Virtual Trunking and Spanning Tree Protocols. In addition emerging trends in data communications and their associated technologies will be discussed. Particular attention will be paid to ISDN and Frame-Relay. It also provides students the opportunity to qualify for Cisco Networking Academy (CNA) CCNA 2 qualification.
This unit also includes part of the training for the Cisco Certified Network Associate Part 2 (CCNA2) qualification. Completion of the CCNA2 qualification is optional, and does require students to complete weekly on-site practical training and an on-site Cisco exam at CDU. |
